Science Writing

I think science is amazing not just because of discoveries, but because of how those discoveries can make a difference in everyday life. Writing helps me see science not just as experiments and data, but as a human story — one that connects discoveries to the people they are meant to serve.

Title: No Data Is An Island: Accelerating AI-Driven Drug Discovery Through Global Collaboration

Inspired by the insights of Dr. Efthimios Kaxiras and Dr. Leo Anthony Celi at HSRC, whose presentations illuminated three critical challenges: integrating AI into research, translating laboratory findings into clinical applications, and overcoming the bottlenecks AI faces in healthcare implementation.

Title: CRISPR: A Bumpy Path to Genetic Equality

I first encountered CRISPR in my science class. I was amazed that a simple organism like archaea possesses such ingenious defense mechanisms against viruses. Even more fascinating was how scientists transformed this natural system into powerful gene-editing tools for human therapeutics, successfully treating previously incurable diseases. Driven by this interest, I began exploring scientific journals such as MIT Technology Review and Scientific American, where I learned about cases like CRISPR babies and the ethical considerations that must guide the application of such revolutionary technologies.

Title: Rewriting the Code of Life: How Gene Therapy is Revolutionizing Medicine

Inspired by the remarkable story of a "butterfly boy" - a patient with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a rare genetic condition that makes skin as fragile as butterfly wings. Through gene therapy, he found healing from a condition that once meant a lifetime of pain and constant medical care. This breakthrough case exemplifies how gene therapy is transforming the landscape of modern medicine, offering hope where once there seemed to be none.
